Apple and Cinnamon Crisps

This little treat is delicious but takes a while to cook so don’t start making them just before you need to go out like I usually do.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 ltr – cold water
  • 1 tbsp – salt
  • 3 – apples (Gala or Braeburn are best)
  • ground cinnamon

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 110c
  • Put the water into a large mixing bowl and stir in the salt until it dissolves
  • Slice the apple very thinly leaving the skin and core in place but removing any pips
  • Add the apple slices to the salt water and turn to coat each slice, this helps prevent the apple discolouring whilst baking
  • Drain the apple in a colander and pat dry with a clean tea towel.
  • Arrange the slices onto a large roasting rack so the heat can get to both sides of the apple and place it into the oven for 2 hours
  • Once cooked sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and leave to cool
  • Keep the slices in a air tight plastic container for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
  • Enjoy
