This little treat is delicious but takes a while to cook so don’t start making them just before you need to go out like I usually do.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 1 ltr – cold water
- 1 tbsp – salt
- 3 – apples (Gala or Braeburn are best)
- ground cinnamon
Method
- Preheat your oven to 110c
- Put the water into a large mixing bowl and stir in the salt until it dissolves
- Slice the apple very thinly leaving the skin and core in place but removing any pips
- Add the apple slices to the salt water and turn to coat each slice, this helps prevent the apple discolouring whilst baking
- Drain the apple in a colander and pat dry with a clean tea towel.
- Arrange the slices onto a large roasting rack so the heat can get to both sides of the apple and place it into the oven for 2 hours
- Once cooked sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and leave to cool
- Keep the slices in a air tight plastic container for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
- Enjoy
